You'll find shopping variety and wonderful restaurants in South Central North Dakota's larger cities, and if it's malls and McDonald's you're looking for on your vacation, we hope you have a great time!

But let's face it, small towns in North Dakota struggle to provide the wide range of retail stores and services you may be used to. Retail stores and service businesses exist, for the most part, to provide local residents with the daily necessities they need. In many small communities in the region, you may be hard pressed to find the perfect pair of shoes or that blouse you've been looking for.

Still, we want to assure you that in most South Central North Dakota cities, you'll have access to the things you may need to enhance your vacation or touring experience...well-qualified mechanics...auto parts stores...everything the sport lovers among you will want...crafts...medicine...sunscreen in August and wool socks in January!

We encourage you to slow down as you drive the highways and byways of this charming region and take a look at what each town or city has to offer on its main street. Half the fun of traveling new territory is taking in the local flavor, talking to local folks, and becoming part of the local experience.
