Recreation - General Information
     Recreation by County

Rock Climbing (click to enlarge)Recreation means different things to different people. For some, an invigorating hunt in late October is their greatest pleasure. Others find true enjoyment reading a good book in the shade of a 100-year-old Cottonwoodnear a briskly running creek. Still others fill their vacation days on a golf course, on a boat or on footexploring the vastness andexhilarating beauty of the view from a North Dakota prairie.

Rodeo Bull Rider (click to enlarge)South Central North Dakota has diverserecreational opportunities to satisfy nearly everyone's interests.Canoe the Sheyenne River; bike thepaved trails in our major cities or head out across the state's two-lane network for an up-close experience; hike it, backpack it, camp it or see it by horseback.Rough it as a member of the Fort Seward Wagon Train or bask in the luxurious surroundings of a country Bread and Breakfast.

Midway Carnival (click to enlarge)Even a leisurely drive across this beautiful region will inspire you. Meander through the Sheyenne Valley Scenic Byway, make a short detour to see the historic LaMoure County Summer Theatre building in the lush Grand Rapids Memorial Park, swing north and take in one of the self-guided Birding Drives Dakota tours through one of the many wildlife refuges that dot the countryside of the region.

However you choose to play, South Central North Dakota can accommodate you!
