The Sheyenne Valley Arts and Crafts Association was
organized to promote cultural activities in rural ND; to preserve
the arts and crafts of our heritage and pass these traditions along
to interested persons, especially children. We strive to support
local artists and crafters with many events and activities and to
provide opportunities for artwork displays at festivals and in our
facilities. Financial support is given to the school for their arts
programs and to the local museum for assistance in preserving our
heritage.
Art shows are scheduled during the year, including the fall Art
Show in conjunction with a juried two-day fall Arts and Crafts Festival.
The fall festival is held every year on the last full weekend
of September. As many as 150 exhibitors, artists, and crafts persons
display and sell their products during this festival.
"Timeless Treasures", a cooperative store operated by
SVACA is open during the summer months, providing a place in which
members sell arts, crafts, antiques, and other unique interesting
items.
"Knute" the SVACA troll lives indoors in the winter and
has a place of recognition outside during festival events. He is
guardian of the arts and crafts, depicted as such with his artist's
brush and easel.
