For
Ransom Sodbusters Association was formed as a non-profit organization
by volunteers interested in preserving the heritage of the area by
demonstrating the farming methods and lifestyles of the past. The
groups main emphasis is to sponsor the annual Sodbusters Days events
held at the Fort Ransom State Park. During this two day event, volunteers
demonstrate a variety of farming methods, household skills, and crafts
using antique machinery and equipment. Teams of horses plow, plant,
cut hay, and harvest grain. Women churn butter, hand crank ice cream,
and demonstrate other skills and crafts. Children participate in supervised
games and crafts. Live music is provided all day and food services
are available. The Fort Ransom Sodbusters Association has worked in
recreation to further the development of the Sunne Demonstration Farm
into a typical family farm of the 1920's. |
